“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”
India’s 3rd national festival, Gandhi Jayanti, is celebrated by the entire nation to commemorate the birth anniversary of the father of our nation-Mahatama Gandhi. On the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary, IHS celebrated bapu’s birthday in school, a day prior, on 1st October, 2019, with great zeal, enthusiasm and patriotism.
The day commenced with a special assembly by Grade III, depicting the highlights of Gandhiji’s life through a highly spirited dance drama. It was followed by a song that encapsulated the basic essence of his teachings- a free life. The little Toddlers made a take away of Gandhi thumb printing as a reminder of the Father of the Nation. The students of Nursery and Kindergarten did a Charkha Making activity, symbolizing his way of life.
The school corridors resonated with the melodious tune of ‘Ragupati Raghav’, a favourite of Mahatma Gandhi, as a reminder of the importance of the day.
“My religion is based on truth and non-violence. Truth is my God. Non-violence is the means of realising Him.”
