World Environment Day

“Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land.” ~Aldo Leopold

World Environment Day is considered one of the most remarkable days for environmental action and is celebrated on June 5 every year across the globe. The theme of World Environment Day 2021 is 'Reimagine. Recreate. Restore.' as this year marks the beginning of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Students at home celebrated this day with their parents and participated in various activities that highlighted the theme. The little ones of Pre- Primary made an Earth-Friendly Feast- they spent time together in the kitchen with their mothers and fathers and cooked a nutritious meal that supports our planet–vegetarian, vegan, or organic. Students of Grades I and II sat by their window and did a Nature Scavenger Hunt and wrote down all that they observed for a given span of time. Grades III and IV created a reuse corner at home and later created something beautiful from it. Students of Grades VI and VII made posters on how to conserve energy at home and shared the same with their family during a family discussion. Colours and Imagination at its best, the students of Grades VIII and IX made posters to showcase the kind of environment they would like to live in.

REIMAGINE. RECREATE. RESTORE.

This is our moment.
We cannot turn back time. But we can grow trees, green our cities,
rewild our gardens, change our diets and clean up rivers and coasts.
We are the generation that can make peace with nature.
Let’s get active, not anxious.
Let’s be bold, not timid.
