The Space Explorers Workshop offered an exciting and enriching STEM experience for the talented students of IHS, from Grades I to X.
Grades I–II explored the fascinating world of light, learning how we see things and discovering concepts like visibility, shadows, and reflections through fun, hands-on experiments.
Grades III–V stepped into the shoes of space scientists, studying how Mars rovers explore the Red Planet. They drew parallels between rovers and living organisms, identifying important parts like wheels, robotic arms, cameras, masts, antennas, and power sources that help the machines function in space.
Grades VI–X engaged in an advanced engineering challenge by building hydrobots — water-powered machines that demonstrated fluid pressure, hydraulic systems, and Pascal’s Law.
The workshop was not only interactive and fun but also a great way to build 21st-century skills like creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving. Students gained hands-on STEM experience, learned to apply science in real-world contexts, and were inspired to dream big about space exploration and innovation.
