Grade III Students Explore the World of Large Numbers

Grade III MAth Subject Enrichment Activity- Exploring Large Numbers in a Fun Way!

An engaging and hands-on Mathematics activity was conducted for Grade III to strengthen students’ understanding of the chapter Large Numbers. The classroom was transformed into an interactive learning space with boxes labelled according to place values, ranging from ones to ten-thousands.

Students enthusiastically picked chits containing digits from each box and arranged them in their correct place value positions to form numbers. They then represented the numbers in expanded form, helping them understand the value of each digit clearly.

To deepen their learning, students combined the values to form the final number, wrote its number name, and further identified its successor and predecessor, reinforcing their understanding of number sequence and order.

This activity made learning meaningful, interactive, and enjoyable while strengthening students’ conceptual understanding of place value, number formation, and sequencing. It also encouraged active participation, critical thinking, and enthusiasm for Mathematics.
