Science in Action | Exploring Through Experiments
Our students of grade VIII turned scientific concepts into meaningful experiences through a series of engaging hands-on laboratory activities, fostering curiosity, observation and scientific thinking.
They experimentally verified Archimedes’ Principle by observing the apparent loss of weight of an immersed object and comparing it with the weight of displaced water.
Using a simple syringe, students explored the compressibility of gases and liquids, understanding why gases can be compressed more easily than liquids.
In another fascinating activity, potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) was added to water to observe the gradual spreading of colour, helping students understand the movement of water particles and how particles in liquids move more freely than those in solids.
Aligned with CBSE’s focus on experiential and competency-based learning, these activities strengthened conceptual understanding through observation, experimentation and learning by doing.
