Shapes Around Us – Grade II Mathematics
Grade II students enjoyed an engaging and interactive lesson on 2D and 3D shapes. The session began with a colourful PowerPoint presentation that introduced students to both 2D and 3D shapes, helping them understand their names, features, and examples from their surroundings.
To reinforce their understanding of 2D shapes, students participated in the "Magic Bag of Shapes" game. Each child picked a shape from the mystery bag, observed it carefully, and confidently identified and named the shape. This hands-on activity made learning fun while strengthening their recognition of 2D shapes.
As a recap of the lesson, students worked collaboratively in groups to create their own Shape Robots using a combination of 2D and 3D shapes. This creative activity encouraged teamwork, imagination, and critical thinking while allowing students to apply their learning in an enjoyable way.
The session concluded with enthusiastic participation and a deeper understanding of both 2D and 3D shapes, making mathematics an exciting and meaningful learning experience.
