Learning Vowels & Consonants Through Fun and Creativity in UKG!

This week, our young learners explored Vowels and Consonants through a variety of fun, interactive, and hands-on activities!

Sorting Activity: Children sorted letter cards into two groups—vowels and consonants.
Vowel & Consonant Hopscotch: They hopped only on the letters belonging to the given category, making learning active and exciting!
Story Introduction: Vowels and consonants came alive as characters in a story, helping children understand how letters come together to form words.
Vowels Handprint Craft: Children creatively represented vowels through a colourful handprint activity.
Clay Moulding: They strengthened letter recognition and fine-motor skills by moulding different letters using clay.

These concepts were further reinforced through engaging book exercises, including vowel and consonant identification, picture-based activities, word matching, circling consonants, and identifying words beginning with vowel and consonant sounds.

We wrapped up the week with a fun Word Wall Game & Quiz, giving children an exciting opportunity to revise and showcase their learning!

These activities helped children identify, recognise, remember, and differentiate between vowels and consonants, while also strengthening their reading, spelling, vocabulary, and fine-motor skills.

Learning is always more meaningful when it is hands-on, playful, and joyful!
